step 3: Check the results of the actions carried out


The third step can be interpreted as an observation and a verification of the actions carried out. The most striking example would be an archery session. You have a target, you fire your gun and you watch the result. You can then see if you have pulled too hard or too far to the right concerning the target. Your first shot will serve as a reference for future shots and so on. On your next shot, you will know how to shoot: stronger, or more to the left depending on the previous shot. Checking the results of your actions lets you know where you need to put more effort.

The fourth and last step can be considered as a correction of the actions to adjust them. To put it simply, you have noticed that the actions you have taken present some flaws. They did not allow you to get close enough to your goals or at worst they took you away from them. You must correct these actions for the next actions to be more effective in achieving your goals.

Using the previous example which is the archery session. Once the first shot was made, you could see that you aimed a little to the right and you stretched your bow a little too hard, so you missed your target. Having taken into account this information, you will be able to adjust the next shot by aiming a little more to the left and with less tension in your bow. After the second shot, you check again if your target is reached or not. If you missed your target again, you adjust your next shot from the previous shot and so on until all of your shots hit the target.
